Water is
Threatened
Grassy Narrows
For decades, the communities of Grassy Narrows First Nation and Wabaseemoong Independent Nations have been fighting for justice following the devastating impacts of mercury contamination in their waters and communities.
The ongoing impacts of industrial pollution continue to affect community health and access to safe water.1 Community members and advocates continue to call for accountability, meaningful engagement and urgent action from governments.
PSAC stands in full solidarity with Indigenous communities demanding that their rights, health, safety, and dignity be respected. Reconciliation requires more than words. It means listening to Indigenous communities and taking meaningful action to address the issues that have endured for generations.
